15 Movies that can make a night-in pretty entertaining!

B&W - Jul 2019

#1 When in Rome

If you believe in destiny and your husband doesn’t, then watch this movie together. While this may probably still makes him think destiny is cheesy and not for guys like him, at least you showed him what could happen if you believe in it.

If that still won’t cut it, at least you get to watch Josh Duhamel being his hunky self. You’ll hope your husband gets the drift to be romantic, even if he doesn’t believe in love spells.

#2 50 First Dates

So your husband keeps telling you you’re so forgetful? Then hit the couch together, grab some popcorn, and watch this Adam Sandler flick. Enjoy the laughs you share, especially with the ever-present Rob Schneider in the cast.

This flick is about a playboy who falls in love with a girl with no short-term memory due to an accident. Now, it’s up to the guy to make the girl fall in love with him every day—just like what you want your husband to do with you.

#3 Along Came Polly

A perfect mix of quirky, funny, and unpredictability *well, sort of* from an unlikely pair: hot Jennifer Aniston and the comic Ben Stiller. This romantic comedy helps ease you into the many discomforts you go through early in the relationship. This movie shows two very opposite individuals who are attracted to each other and make things work.

#4 Love and Basketball

If your guy is a basketball fan, then he’d probably not whine if you make him watch this. Or at least, he’ll try to be interested. The underlying sports theme is actually pretty decent when it comes to enticing the males, plus the movie is sweet enough for ladies, making this flick a win-win.

#5 The Tourist

If he’s not into cheesy, predictable rom-coms, he’ll like the guesswork in The Tourist. This cat-and-mouse tale puts a mystery woman played by Angelina Jolie in the middle, as she appears to be leading on not only Johnny Depp’s character, but the authorities on the chase. Plus, the locations, Venice and Paris, are just so amazing and romantic.

#6 Confessions of a Shopaholic

If you want your guy to understand how you blew your credit card over a pair of boots, make him watch this movie. Based on the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, this movie follows a shopping addict who tries to stay afloat and achieve her dreams of becoming a writer for a famous fashion magazine. But all the while a ruthless debt collector is hot on her heels.

Unlike other damsel-in-distress types, the protagonist gets herself out of trouble and in the end bags her prince charming.

#7 How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

With the charming and ageless Kate Hudson paired up with hunky fellow A-lister Matthew McConaughey, the result is a movie worth watching many times. Hudson just glows and McConaughey is every man’s man, making this flick really work. Despite all the mind games, trickery, and battle of wills from both endearing characters, they prove love can also happen in just 10 days!

#8 Pretty Woman

Playboy billionaire who won’t commit meets southern belle-turned street hooker. An unlikely pair, alright, but it works! This classic romantic movie, stars Julia Roberts and Richard Gere and explores how love blossoms in the most outrageous setups and in the most unlikely couple. And if your guy wouldn’t take you on a shopping spree the way Gere’s character did for Roberts’ then your guy should better think again.

#9 My Best Friend’s Wedding

One of the best performances of Julia Roberts, this movie actualizes the belief that there really is no such thing as friendship between men and women because eventually, one falls for the other. And one did in this movie—and it was almost too late.

Amidst all the kerfuffle for what would have been a beautiful wedding and a lovely couple, Roberts’ character comes into the picture, intent on sabotaging the wedding. All her scheming proved futile though. A testament that true love also develops even after a short while.

#10 Moulin Rouge

This movie is about truth, beauty, freedom, and love—above all else, love. It starts spectacularly with all the works—the music, the women, the costumes, and all the sparkles. However, underneath all these is a dark undertone, the inescapable grasp of death, which is the only powerful force pulling apart any strong love.

#11 Serendipity

If your guy doesn’t believe in fate, then maybe this movie will make him think. Helmed by lovely Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack, this movie is a spectacle. It tells the story of two people brought together by amazing coincidence, making you believe there really is such a thing as soulmates.

#12 Love, Actually

This is a Christmas-time classic. If after watching this, you and your guy don’t have a tradition of watching this every yuletide season, then you may not be meant to be. This movie is a star-studded showcase of how love manifests itself in many ways, through the lives of eight couples. It’s a blend of witty, sappy, touching, funny, sad, and infectious. It’s impossible to watch this without falling in love once again.

#13 Titanic

Of course, a classic. Directed by James Cameron, this movie doesn’t even have to try to be part of the list. It’s just a beautiful, heart-warming-and-then-heart-crushing tale of two strangers of different social classes who meet in a grand ship, only to be pulled apart by tragedy.

Excellently crafted, with plenty of unforgettable scenes, such as when Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack) draws Rose, played by Kate Winslet. Surely, your husband would love to watch the movie a few more times just for this scene.

#14 Dirty Dancing

Love, hope and dancing are the most suitable hashtags when it comes to this timeless classic. Patrick Swayze stars as the rebellious yet ruggedly handsome Johnny Castle who plays a down-on-his-luck dance instructor at a lavish resort. The leading lady, played by Jennifer Grey, is the notorious Frances “Baby” Houseman. The movie which coined the very famous phrase “nobody puts Baby in a corner!” Dirty Dancing is one of those movies that one simply can never forget. It has plenty of iconic scenes which went down in movie history, such as the final performance of Baby and Johnny and off course, what gave birth to the amazing song  "(I've had) The time of my life".

It would make an interesting movie to watch with your husband because it combines all the elements a movie produced in the 80’s would invoke, including the nostalgic feels.

#15 The Entire Harry Potter Series

Now even though we know that it's about 20 hours long, you can't deny that it's definitely worth it! Having a Harry Potter marathon is a staple or a rite of passage that each couple has to go through. A lot can be said about that magical series, but words wouldn't do it justice. Follow Harry Potter each year as he navigates school and experience with him his adventures as he goes through, friendship, romance, and off course, badd ass battles with his notorious foe, Lord Voldemort.
What makes the Harry Potter movies a very viable and interesting choice is the fact that both of you will greatly enjoy it. It contains enough comedy, action and adventure, sometimes, even a little romance.
