While countries are being locked down and people being forced to quarantine and self-isolate due to the covid-19 pandemic, you might find that cooking helps ease your boredom. Many of us are afraid to eat outside and even though you might be missing your favourite fast food options, this is in fact a much healthier choice to cook your own dishes at home during this time in particular.
We are lucky enough that supermarkets, bakeries and butchers are still operating to provide us with essential goods. So there is no excuse not to cook some healthy and delicious food that will give you something to do in your free time, enhance your cooking skills and also boost your immunity.
Here are a few ideas that you can try:
Tomato Soup - It’s a perfect way to stay warm and get all the nutrients found in fresh tomatoes and spices that make up the soup. The garlic and onions added will also help your body fight off infections and viruses.
Chicken Fried Rice - You can’t say no to a bowl of yummy rice with a combination of carrots, peas, onions and finely cut chicken pieces. Don’t forget to add the ginger, it will keep you on your feet and most likely prevent you from catching the coronavirus.
Tuna Pasta - One of the quickest and most satisfying options. If you don’t prefer tuna then you can go for some prawns instead, remember it’s important to consume seafood. This meal is served cold, and you can also add some tomatoes and olives for the perfect finish.
Beef Stir-Fry - A very healthy choice as it includes a range of steamed vegetables (carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts and green peas). This means you’ll be getting lots of vitamins and a great taste too. In addition, meat is a rich source of iron and your stir-fry needs to include sliced pieces of steak to be complete and just right!
Apple-Cinnamon Pie - If you have a sweet tooth, then you’ll enjoy this dessert for sure. Remember the old saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” This is all about mixing apples and cinnamon, which is also highly beneficial along with it’s amazing smell and irresistible taste.
Banana Bread - Last but not least, this is something that all kids love. Bananas are very rich in fibre which keeps you full for longer, they’re also high in potassium which protect your heart and regulates blood pressure. If you haven’t tried banana bread before, once you do, you’ll become addicted!
