A Checklist Guide To What Makeup A Beginner Should Buy?

B&W - Oct 2019

Learning how to apply makeup isn't as simple as it seems; watching complicated YouTube tutorials can only make you more confused. Does foundation go before or after concealer?

Should you put your eye shadow on first or last?

Consider this a makeup beginner’s outline shopping checklist to layer your makeup, step by step.

Here’s your Checklist Guide:

  • Primer

Primer is the first step in your makeup routine and it will help fill in lines and smooth out your skin’s texture prior to applying your foundation.

  • Concealer

Choose a creamy formula that can hide under-eye circles and cover blemishes.

  • Foundation

To avoid the dreaded look, apply foundation using a beauty sponge. It absorbs product. If you don’t need as much coverage as foundation provides, consider a tinted moisturizer instead.

  • Blush

In terms of formula, cream blush is best for drier skin and has a higher color pay-off than powder blushes.

  • Setting powder

A quick, light dusting of powder sets makeup and controls shine.

  • Mascara

There’s no better way to define your eyes than by enhancing your lashes. Stick with basic black.

  • Bronzer

Powder bronzers are best for beginners because they give you the most control.

  • Neutral eye shadow

For a natural look, choose a medium, neutral shade like a warm brown and beige.

  • Eyeliner

An eyeliner pencil is the most common (and easiest) type and perfect for an everyday look.

  • Lip stick and Lip gloss

Anyone can wear lipstick, the bolder the better!

To highlight your skin tone, go for cool colors. Wear lip shades of peaches, nude pinks and mauve. For fair skin, you can go for mattes.

Sheer gloss, maroon or brown lip shades work well for darker skin tone

  • Lip Liner

A perfect handy tool and a great base for your lipstick or lip gloss, it can define and plump your lips, making them appear fuller and bigger.

  • Brow pencil

Instantly, fills gaps in your brows with a soft and natural finish.

  • Brow gel

They are the quickest and easiest way to add color, subtle hold, and fullness to the brow

  • Setting Spray

Setting spray made to prevent all makeup, including foundation, eye shadow and lipstick, from creasing, smudging or fading.
