What to Expect in the 43rd Edition of Cairo International Film Festival!

The Cairo International Film Festival revealed the names of the first international shows that it will present within the activities of the 43rd edition, which will start from November 26 to December 5.

The number of these films reached 11 feature films divided between 9 world premieres and two international premieres. The festival also presents 22 world premieres short films whose details will be announced later.

The 11 feature films varied between fiction and documentaries of different nationalities and film ideologies that are classified as follows: 4 films within the international competition, 5 films within the Arab Cinema Horizons competition, one film within special screenings, and another within the international panorama.

Besides his work as a writer and producer, Mohamed Hefzy has been entrusted by the Minister of Culture with the responsibility of being the head of the Cairo International Film Festival for its 40th edition, making him the youngest head in the history of the festival. Omar Kassem is the Festival Executive Director. He is a professional media creator who worked as a strategic consultant for advertising campaigns at Tarek Nour Company, DDB International, and as an Executive Creative Director at Bates Company.

Awards:

Every year, the CIFF is keen on presenting some awards to the best in every field in cinema. Let’s have a look at some of the awards presented at this festival:

Official Film Sections Awards:

The Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film, presented to the producer.

The Silver Pyramid, Special Jury Award, for Best Director.

The Bronze Pyramid Award for Best First or Second Work, presented to the director.

Naguib Mahfouz Award for Best Screenplay.

Best Actor Award.

Best Actress Award.

Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution.

 

Faten Hamama Award:

Excellence Award to outstanding film figures for their great contribution to enriching the cinematographic art. This year, Karim Abdel Aziz will be receiving this award.

The Cairo International Film Festival will present a special tribute to the multi-skilled Egyptian actress, Nelly, who has been selected to receive the 43rd Golden Pyramid of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
